STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Black, Brown And Better Than Ever

February 4th, 2015 at 2:00am

What’s black, brown and worn all over?

Color-blocking black and brown is making its way into the fashion world with a bang. Once considered a taboo, this trend has made the most epic style comeback through means of shoes, shirts, pants and even accessories.

A cool alternative to sometimes-cheesy cheetah print or old-school tortoise shell, this trendy black-brown combo has presented itself on runways, red carpet and college campuses alike in both formal and informal ways.

Today, I give you a Fashionista who bravely struts this style around campus with a cheery smile on her face. At first glance, her leggings appear to be a standard black pair, but soon enough, we discover they feature a playful touch. Complete with brown suede sides, our Fashionista’s pants subtly but successfully juxtapose the two tones, giving off a fun yet fierce feel.

Our Fashionista also sports a vintage-styled graphic tee, and completes her look with a pair of edgy moto boots, loosely buckling them to create a worn-in look. Knowing that her ensemble stands as a statement in and of itself, she decks herself in a limited number of jewels, including a simple diamond necklace and dainty silver ring. Finally, to brace the cold weather, she struts in a chic, puffy down jacket, complete with cool and convenient arm pockets.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Don’t fear experimentation! Most of the trends that people are too afraid to try are often the most fashionable, most fun ones to play around with! In short, be bold. It’s a good time.”
