STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Black and Blue

When we hear black and blue most of us think of one thing: bruises, or if you are a ’90s kid like me, the exceptional Backstreet Boys album that kicked the early 2000s off right, “Black & Blue.” But what about when the famous color scheme gets away from the well-known boy band and into our wardrobe? Should we fear its clash match nature? When it comes to color combos normally we avoid black and blue like the plague. However, this Fashionisto shows us how easily this style can be incorporated into your everyday college wardrobe.

This Fashionisto stays warm in this color combination by doing a classic jean on jean look. His unbuttoned jean shirt is timeless and on trend. It also provides a perfect paring for his crewneck sweater underneath. To go with his medium washed button down he wears a pair of black jeans. (They go with everything!) A picture perfect example of how layering different washes of jeans brings the outfit to a whole new level. And what goes better with jean than some classic workman boots!

However, black and blue is not just present in street style. Lately you cannot watch a red carpet without seeing a navy tux with black lapels. Even more recently, a trend setting designer Prabal Gurung, allowed black and blue to have a shining moment on the runway in his fall 2015 ready-to-wear line. Black tie events now welcome a new color, blue!

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Jeans are a necessity for any wardrobe. So make sure you have a few different washes in your closet!”
