STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Balmain Army Green

Despite the fact that I live for womenswear (I mean…obviously), I’ve found myself exceptionally drawn to the menswear shows this spring season. Recently, Olivier Rousteing’s first menswear show ever for Balmain left me yearning for more khaki tones and workmanship vibes. While the collection leaned more towards safari and avoided any hint of army green, when I spotted this Fashionista I immediately thought of the Parisian runway.

Although the shade of this Fashionista’s ensemble reminded me of the Balmain show, the comparisons stop there. While Balmain was all about overdone outfits styled to the tenth degree, the simplicity of this Fashionista’s ensemble is perhaps one of my favorite things about it. She kept her color palette a very Kardashian-approved neutral tone and limited her accessories. A T-shirt dress like this is perfect for any possible occasion and can easily be dressed up or dressed down depending on how you want to style it. I love the army green color for summer because it reminds me of my favorite fashion season: fall. Her black booties and bag are only appropriate for the gloomy weather, and the soft gold jewelry only helps to tie it all together.

Just like how there will never be a new black (sorry orange), good basics will never go out of style. T-shirt dresses make up my entire summer wardrobe, and I think a good T-shirt dress is just as necessary as a staple shoe. This Fashionista exhibited both of those necessities perfectly, in my opinion. Instead of going completely casual, she chose an amazing pair of Sam Edelman booties to jazz up the outfit, giving it a whole new flair. Pop on a pair of flip flops to run errands or change into these shoes for nighttime. Regardless the occasion, a T-shirt dress will never let you down.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I love letting a plain outfit speak for itself. There’s something so chic about letting the basics do what they’re supposed to do; it’s nice not to feel like my outfit is overwhelming.”
