STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Army Green Takeover

The military trend is clearly here to stay. The fall runways were filled with models wearing the classic army green and military structured jackets. Designers, such as Marc Jacobs’ ready-to-wear runway show, were entirely focused on including this element in their collections. Military-inspired looks are definitely trending for 2015!

I have always been a huge fan of the military trend (shout-out to the camo pants I wore everyday in fifth grade) and have incorporated it thoroughly into my everyday wardrobe. However, I have realized over the years that many people have difficulty finding ways to fit military inspired pieces into their personal style. The key to remember is that you do not need to start wearing an army green top with camo pants to be part of this trend. It is about finding pieces that fit your comfort level and work with your current wardrobe.

This week’s Fashionista shows one of the best ways to be part of the military trend: an army green coat. This item is especially practical for those of us in colder climates. Army green jackets and parkas are absolutely everywhere. There are styles and cuts that are available to flatter everybody including bomber jackets, peacoats and parkas. These are versatile pieces that can become staples in your closet.

The Fashionista above continued the military inspiration of her jacket by pairing it with brown combat boots. Brown dominates her accessories with a small backpack and light textured scarf, which adds a feminine look to her outfit. Overall, this Fashionista undoubtedly knows how to rock the military trend and make it part of her everyday style!
