STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: All Day I Dream About Style

There is just something cool and effortless about a sporty-chic look. I’ll admit that I, the girl who doesn’t know the difference between goals and touchdowns, owns a few too many jerseys and a letterman jacket that I thought I absolutely needed (I didn’t.)

There is a reason sporty-chic has remained a cult favorite from coast to coast long before it was Yeezy season. It blurs the line between athletics and fashion with a soft, yet edgy aesthetic. By attracting people who shy away from frilly, uncomfortable couture, the trend evolved into an attainable lifestyle that is the best of two traditionally different worlds. Like most street style, the sporty-chic look requires lots of layering patterns and styles.

So, how does one dream about sports and style? Check out this Fashionista for a fun twist on the cool trend. She pairs a dark gray loose fitting, cotton tank top with a lightweight, light wash denim bomber jacket. Her choice of solid, neutral colors on top allows her to mix different fabrics on bottom—an overlooked key to chic layering. The dark asymmetrical, quilted mini skirt and sheer black tights not only keep her warm enough in the windy spring weather, but they also subtly direct focus on her all-white, classic adidas sneakers; a perfect contrast to the the darker tones of the core pieces. To complete the look she, of course, layers on accessories.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “If you’re like me, you’ll always choose quality over quantity. Invest in a few well-made pieces that make your mornings easy and long days comfortable.”
