STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: All-Black Everything

Sure, summer is here and it’s completely acceptable to break out your whites and bright colors, but that doesn’t mean that black has gone out of style. My closet is full of black clothing, so I myself am definitely guilty of wearing too much of it, no matter what the season. Maybe there’s no such thing as too much black, like this Fashionista’s outfit suggests. Her simple all-black look shows exactly why black is always a good choice.

The first thing about this outfit that caught my eye was this great crochet dress. The simple shape of the dress is airy and comfortable, while the long, lace-like sleeves make the look feel dressier without much effort. I also love the contrast of the black lace sleeves against her skin, I think it makes the pattern really stand out. Finally, my favorite part of the dress would have to be the deep-V neckline that laces up, making this dress a little bit more unique than your average LBD.

To keep the all-black trend going, this Fashionista paired her dress with a quilted handbag and simple strapped sandals. Her dress certainly had plenty of details to serve as the focal point of the outfit, so these small accessories were the perfect way to complete her monochrome look.

At first, a black dress with black sandals and a black handbag may seem like a rather boring outfit, but this Fashionista shows how to make a monochrome outfit anything but blah. The key is to choose some pieces with different textures to keep the outfit interesting. Choose a few parts of the look where you want to draw people’s eyes, but other than that keep it simple and remember that sometimes less is more.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Black is always the new black. Colors are fun, but black looks good on everyone and sometimes it’s good to stick to a classic, too.”
