STYLE ADVICE: Minimal Winter

For my first style advice of the semester, I wanted to focus on keeping it minimalistic and trendy during the winter time. I’ve been a big fan of minimalism and the idea that “less is more.” This Fashionista knew exactly how to do that with this simple casual look.

When I asked this Fashionista about how she matches her outfits so well all the time, she told me buying simple staples is the key. Having clothes that are neutral-toned or black and white can help greatly when it comes to mixing and matching. When I heard this advice, I ran with it because it used to be a challenge finding outfits without seeming like I was repeating the same looks. I used to buy too many patterned staple pieces and outfits that you can’t just mix and match all the time, like rompers for example. This Fashionista really inspired me when it came to keeping it simple and chic, especially for everyday wear.

In this look, she kept it simple with a turtleneck sweater and matched it with a pair of distressed blue jeans. I absolutely love distressed jeans, and personally think they can be worn any time of year with the right outfit. To help sum up her outfit, she wore a pair of brown leather ankle boots. Ankle boots and denim are my favorite trends this year, and I can totally see these two staples are here to stay. They add a little bit of edge to the look and go great together. This look is perfect for class or going out for lunch with friends.

When it comes to minimalism, it’s all about the small details. This Fashionista kept a simple makeup look and wore a pair of hoop earrings to add to the look. The textured sweater and distressed denim helped make the outfit look really chic, even though these details were such small parts of the outfit.

I really adored this outfit and thought it was a perfectly simple winter outfit. Remember, less is more and I hope you have a rad winter!
