STYLE ADVICE: Lace it up

Winter in Washington calls for some layering, especially when we have to walk across campus for classes. One of the many things I learned in college was that the cold was my enemy in the morning and I had to battle it with a warm outfit. The crisp air air can be quite the biter, so we definitely make sure to layer up. Layering can be hard, whether it be avoiding feeling bulky or just having too much going on at once. I spotted this Fashionista and I think she pulls it off nicely! She exudes classy maturity and was a wonderful girl to talk to.

She layered her look with a burnt maroon turtleneck underneath a black wool trench coat. The turtleneck was a great choice as it rose above the neckline of the wool coat and kept her warm. It was a beautiful combination of functionality and style. This was matched with black lace-up shoes and a pair of dark blue ripped jeans. I love the added “umph” to her look with these shoes! It spices up the otherwise calm and formal look with a surprise. The almond toe is also a great addition to the shoe, as it makes it a little more sassy. This Fashionista paired her outfit with a great nude satchel that had a muted gold monogram on the side. Because of her dark colors, it created a wonderful balance to her look.

I have been enjoying this winter season but am so ready for spring! What about all you Fashionistas out there, are you loving the cozy cold or ready for some warmth?
