STYLE ADVICE: Get You a Cardigan That Can Do Both

We’ve all had that moment where we worried about whether we should try out the draped outerwear trend that’s been happening since ’14. A particular concern that I’ve had in the past with styling draped cardigans, or any bulky outerwear for that matter, is whether the cardigan would swallow me up, and my entire outfit underneath would be lost in the process.

This fashionista shows how to style a bulky draped cardigan sweater without losing shape of her frame. A white tee and figure flattering khakis are a simple outfit combo that can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. In this instance, it serves as a good base to her outfit, so you never lose sight of her shape under the oversized cardigan. She also uses the areas of her body not covered by the cardigan to her advantage and really shows off her personal style. Black Timberland boots paired with the khakis keep the outfit from being too dressed up.

What strikes me in particular about her look is how understated the rest of the outfit is in comparison to the cardigan. This fashionista sticks to neutral shades, all the way down to the classic white analog watch. This really allows the cardigan itself to be the statement piece in the outfit. The tribal print, fringe tassels, and mauve color is unexpected and will really brighten up the cold, dull days that lie ahead. A cardigan that’s stylish and can keep me warm is one we all need this winter.
