STLYE GURU STYLE: Holiday Hues

Finals are (finally) over and the holidays are in full swing! Instead of resorting to your favorite pair of sweats this winter break, try taking a more stylish approach. This season not only brings about twinkly lights and Christmas cookies, but endless breathtaking fashion opportunities. From bold red lipstick, to sparkly gold dresses, the month of December allows you to reflect the spirit of the season in your outfit. The holidays are filled with family gatherings and outings with friends: the perfect chance to show off your elegant ensembles.

Taking inspiration from the 2015 Ermano Scervino fall/winter runway show in Milan, I paired a cream and gold dress with a bright red pea coat. When looking at Scervino’s assortment of outfits, the Christmas season immediately came to mind. His collection features a wintery color palette that includes several whites, reds, blacks and blues. The array of dresses, coats, fur and sparkle are truly reminiscent of the holidays. I used Scervino’s runway collection as inspiration to create the perfect holiday outfit. I stayed true to the essence of his pieces by choosing similarly colored and designed pieces.

My cream colored dress adds a dash of holiday cheer through the golden metallic fabric seen on the upper portion. Taking notes from Ermano Scervino, I paired my light colored dress with a contrasting jacket. I chose a red coat, as the color is a staple to the season. I kept my accessories simple in order to retain focus on the dress. Keeping to the sparkle of the holidays, I wore a simple bracelet that incorporates both gold and silver. I put on a pair of black tights to keep warm in the winter wonderland of Minnesota and added a simple black purse with gold accents. My tan booties have a small heel to dress the look up.  Ermano Scervino makes it easy to be the most stylish gal at the Christmas party!

Get My Look: 1. Dress with a sparkly touch. 2. Bold jacket. 3. Heeled booties.
