Meet the Editorial Society!

It may look easy, but keeping a website running smoothly is no simple feat—and no one knows this better than our Editorial Society. While you’re leisurely browsing the CollegeFashionista website, our editors are working tirelessly behind the scenes, doing their best to make sure every “I” is dotted and every “T” is crossed. So without further ado, meet the 24 Style Gurus that make up CollegeFashionista’s Editorial Society.

Gessica Suffy, Senior at Syracuse University

“I formally go by Gessica Suffy, but am much used to being called Gess. I am a senior at Syracuse University studying psychology. While I am on the track to going to medical school, I am split between two loves: medicine and fashion. Might be a chance that I am something of a shopping addict, but hey, could be addicted to far worse.”

Kelsey Knepler, Fourth Year at University of Wisconsin-Madison

“I really try to think of my clothes art that I wear. I love experimenting and trying out different trends. I also never leave the house until I have added at least one funky accessory! Outside of fashion, my hobbies consist of running, drinking coffee and listening to a very wide range of music.”

Tiffany Kwong, Fifth Term at Toronto Film School

“My name is Tiffany Kwong. I have my undergraduate degree from the University of Toronto with a major in media studies and a double minor in economics and english. I am currently studying a Fashion in Marketing degree at the Toronto Film School. I have been with CollegeFashionista for five terms. I have learned so much from the CollegeFashionista team and my fellow Style Gurus that has let me adapt my style and my writing. It even inspired me to pursue my own dreams in fashion and to explore personal blogging. My style has evolved from classy, to include a little bit more of an edge.”

Kayla Alvarado, Senior at DePaul University

“I am beyond excited about being a part of the fall 2016 Editorial Society for CollegeFashionista! I absolutely love reading every single Style Guru’s appreciation for an outfit, thoughts on certain trends and description of featured looks. I am learning a great deal of what it takes to be an editor in this industry I hope to one day work in. It’s a pleasure ensuring Style Guru’s posts are on point for the public to enjoy. Keep being #RAD!”

Jesse King, Senior at Brigham Young University
“My inspiration for fashion comes from Salvador Perez and his work on the wardrobe for Mindy Lahiri (The Mindy Project), which means one thing: I like my fashion BOLD. I’m a big fan of bold fashion statements, so I love working as an editor for CollegeFashionista. Not only do I get to help these rockin’ Style Gurus make their articles ready for the web, but I also get a first-look at some RAD fashion inspiration. Both fashion and editing are some of my loves in life, and as a member of the CollegeFashionista Editorial Society, I get the best of both worlds.”

Anna Burbano, Junior at the University of Florida

“Hi, everybody! This is my first semester as an editorial intern for CollegeFashionista, and I’m absolutely loving it so far! I’ve always been a bit obsessed with both grammar and fashion, so combining the two interests into one field is just perfect for me—I daydream about being the next big fashion editor à la Anna Wintour.”

Casey Nalley, Junior at University of Kentucky

“As an aspiring writer, being a part of CollegeFashionista as both a Style Guru and Editorial Intern has been one of the most beneficial experiences I’ve had during my time at the University of Kentucky. Picking out and perfecting the small details in a piece of writing always thrills me, and it doesn’t hurt that I get to dress cute while doing it. I love that I get to mix my love of writing, editing and fashion on a daily basis, and I can only hope that I am able to continue doing so after my time at UK and with CollegeFashionista has passed.”

Jessica Fedran, Senior at Marquette University

“Hi I’m Jessica! I’m a senior at Marquette University and this has been my second semester being an editor for CollegeFashionista. I think the reason i love fashion so much is because it is something you can make your own. My sense of style is always changing but it is something I will always consider as part of my identity.”

Baylor Cherry, Junior at University of Florida

“Being with the CF team for three years now, I have learned so much and have had so many opportunities! My fashion sense has changed from reading new articles each day, and I am so honored to be an editorial intern for an amazing company like this. (P.S. I left my heart in the Chicago office where I interned this summer!)”

Cherileigh Co, Senior at Ryerson University

I believe music and film influences fashion. Whenever I wear my leather jacket, I feel like the fourth Haim sister. Currently I’m drawing inspiration from i-D’s “Beyond Beauty with Grace Neutral” because it challenges the stereotypes of conventional beauty. As a fashion journalist, I want to channel the late Bill Cunningham’s principles: remain objective, stay humble and focus on the clothes not the spectacle.

Yesenia Darting, Senior at University of Iowa

With it being my final year as a senior undergrad at the University of Iowa, it feels cool yet weird to reflect back on where I started to where I am now and where life has taken me. My name is Yesenia Darting, a small town girl and animal lover. At Iowa I am majoring in journalism and mass communication, with a minor in art history and entrepreneurial management certificate. It’s also my third year with CollegeFashionista, but my second year as an editor. Everything I have experienced in college as I near the end of it has been an experience and valuable to me in one way or another, including this internship where I affirmed my interest in editorial work with fashion and style in particular.

Ally Zacek, Junior at DePaul University

“I’m a junior at DePaul University studying journalism. My style is very laid-back city slicker meets California glam, meets your thirteen year old brother. I’ve been an editor since fall of 2015 and I love it! Editing has allowed me to go beyond being a Style Guru and has helped me improve my own articles as well.”

Julia Levin, Junior at the University of Illinois
“Being a part of the Editorial Society thus far has been extremely RAD; I love working behind the scenes of CollegeFashionista and I am constantly inspired by Style Gurus from all over the world. In addition to being a giant grammar nerd, I am also passionate about wearing copious amounts of denim.”

“Hey guys, I’m excited to spend another semester as an editor for the awesome CF team! Just a little blurb about me—I love all things Netflix, chocolate-y and that comes in liquid lipstick form. This semester, I plan on upping my style game by studying the latest trends worn around my campus, in the high-fashion scene and by all you Style Gurus.”

Halle Olson, Junior, University of Sunderland – England

“Between fashion design, styling classes and traveling throughout Europe, this semester has been busy but I’m so happy to share that in my posts. It’s been a great experience to study abroad and I’m so glad to bring CollegeFashionista with on my adventures and share the #RAD Fashionistas back in the States with all the chic European Fashionistas I meet!”

Hazel Sands, Fourth Year at University of Toronto

I’m always on the hunt for innovative trends, taking my inspiration from the Style Gurus that surround me through CollegeFashionista and the students that I see daily on campus. Staying composed and up-to-date on seasonal looks grounds me, I feel most comfortable when I use fashion as an outlet to express my personality.
