Five Ways To Really Wear Spring Street Style Trends

Fashion month is wrapping up. And while the blogosphere is blowing up about all fall trends hitting the runways in fashion capitals around the world, there is a lot of buzz about the spring street style happening as well.

In fact many of the looks on the sidewalks were even more Looney Tunes than the actual sweaters Jeremy Scott sent down the catwalk at the Moschino show. Carrie Bradshaw’s style would look like a conservative school uniform compared to some of these over-the-top looks. Sure we want to be inspired by our favorite street style stars, but we also don’t want our professors to think midterms have left us on the verge of insanity.

Here are five of our favorite street style trends we saw during fashion month and how college Fashionistas/os are making them wearable for spring!

1. Head-to-toe denim

Over-the-top: The bandana is all cowgirl while the socks with sandals says, “I’m a cool dad.”

Real way: Live dangerously and mix dark, light and white denim together in a single look.

2. Statement sunnies

Over-the-top: Neon. Mirror. Cat-eye. The ’90s. How many trends can one pair of sunglasses really withstand?

Real way: Don’t try to make your sunnies work too hard. Pick one look and go with it. Our choice for spring? Pointed cat-eye.

3. Layers

Over-the-top: Sequins under lace mixed with leather topped with neoprene is pretty and pretty heavy.

4. Charmed bags

Over-to-top: Charms on charms on charms on charms. We got it. You are trendy.

5. Capes

Over-the-top: Just because you are wearing a cape, doesn’t mean you need to actually look like The Caped Crusader.

Real way: A blanket scarf is the capes more wearable cousin who is less superhero and more super stylish.
