FASHION FROM ABROAD: Mix And Match

After several weeks abroad, I am still enjoying how well dressed Parisians (and even some visiting tourists) are. Even if the clothes aren’t expensive or new, they wear them in interesting combinations and with casual ease. It is a joy to sit back and observe everyone’s fashion choices as they speed through the city. Each person wears his or her look with a certain attitude and makes it work with their own personality. I constantly see new and interesting looks that I want to try for myself.

This Fashionista and her outfit caught my eye immediately and made me smile! Navy stripes are one of my biggest weaknesses and a Parisian fashion staple. Instead of pairing her top with jeans or classic high-waisted pants, this Fashionista went in an unexpected direction with a fantastic red patterned skirt. The large, loud pattern would seem to clash with the rest of her look, but instead, the navy stripes act as a neutral piece and make the skirt the main piece. The skirt also has navy in its pattern, which helps it match. In the end, though, it is the unexpected pairing and similar pattern sizes that make the look fun.

Even after mixing patterns with her top and skirt, this Fashionista made another quirky choice by wearing chunky, athletic sandals in bright yellow. Comfortable walking shoes are so important in the city! Who says they can’t be fun? The bright athletic mesh clashes wonderfully with her feminine skirt and top and ties in since her outfit uses primary colors. She anchors her look with a small leather bag, a few casual bracelets and simple makeup.
