FASHION FROM ABROAD: Investment Pieces

July 21st, 2015 at 2:00am

Staying in Paris and observing how people dress has made me want to throw out my whole closet and start over again, building only with simple investment pieces. There’s something about how casually chic the locals are in their dress. Lots of women wear boyfriend jeans, loose dresses or cute tennis shoes to walk around the city, and their confidence in their look makes it work. Lots of their clothes are solid colored or have a simple stripe, which makes them good for keeping for years since they never go out of style.

This Fashionista shows that exact casual Parisian style. Her simple black T-shirt dress provides the base of her look, while her long gray jacket takes the stage as the center piece. The weather in Paris has gone back and forth between hot and cold these past few weeks, so a lightweight jacket like this is perfect for wearing in all kinds of weather. A black and brown suede detailed bag and simple, thick heeled booties complete her look without stealing the spotlight. The outfit embodies minimalist chic, staying simple and casual while looking high end.

Investment pieces are a great thing to have in your wardrobe, but they can be hard to purchase on a college girl budget. This Fashionista scored her expensive looking jacket at Forever 21! Finding such a classic piece at a great price is a good way to get the Parisian look without breaking the bank.
