FASHION FROM ABROAD: Everyone’s a Work of Art

As this was my last weekend in Chester, England, I decided to visit some of my favorite spots to relish the cool springtime air before I ventured back to the hot, humid atmosphere of Kansas. Sites like the Chester raceway and the Riverside Invention Center have captured my attention these last three weeks as I learned more about communications within the United Kingdom.

Taking a break from my scholarly duties, I spotted this Fashionisto walking around the Chester City Centre. With his relaxed jeans and patterned shirt, coupled with his tattoos, he exemplified the edgy low maintenance look that represents England’s younger elite. This Fashionisto took on this look by paring his marbled pattered button-down with light denim jeans. The marble pattern is something different from other patterns we have seen in the United States, as trends here have tended to stay on the side of bright, poppy tribal prints. Minimalism and clean lines have dominated the European market for the last couple months; the button-down shirt only reinforces the trend.

The marble print shirt provides an unexpected but subtle pop over the traditional white button-down, while the brown boots help to reinforce the outfits’ neutral yet minimalistic vibe. Coupled with the light wash jeans, it helps to create a casual but dressy outfit that can extend from day to night.

By adding a motorcycle jacket and some pointed dress shoes, it helps to take the outfit from a casual day at the office to a night on the town drinking with friends. This outfit is a perfect transition out fit from day to night and everything in between.
