Have you ever thought about finally eating healthier and working out more? These life choices are really important when wanting a healthier lifestyle. It may sound so boring, but I promise once you follow these helpful tips you will start feeling so much better and will stick with it!

One day I finally knew enough was enough. I got to a point where I was pretty overweight and not feeling very good about myself. I just wanted to feel okay and wear whatever I wanted without feeling self conscious. We are all beautiful no matter our size, but I just knew it was time for a change. So I started while I was away at college. I took advantage of the free gyms that most of us should have in our dorm buildings. I also bought a tracker, which really motivated me to keep on working out. It’s great—it tracks your steps, workouts, what you eat, and it can also track your sleep patterns. It’s also awesome because it can either clip onto your clothing or you can even wear it as a bracelet or even a stylish necklace!

Another part of becoming a healthier person was eating better. This may bore some people but I promise there are delicious recipes out there. Something I tend to do is make fruit smoothies, which are great for a snack, or as a substitute for craving we have for some cookies or, of course, chocolate. I bought a tiny blender which can fit in any dorm room easily. I use almond milk, ice cubes, a couple teaspoons of chia or flax seeds, and whatever fruit I can find. These smoothies are amazing and if you have a portable cup (which I’m sure we all do) they’re great to bring to class also.

Something else I make are delicious oatmeal muffins. They are super good for you, and taste great too. You can really put whatever you want in them. I tend to use oats, honey, cinnamon, almonds, raspberries (or any berry you like), greek yogurt, and almond milk. These are perfect because you can make them in large batches and freeze them in your mini-fridge, then just microwave for breakfast or a snack. After a couple months of making better choices, I ended up losing over 25 pounds and I am feeling so much better about myself.

Going to the gym isn’t as dreadful as it sounds, I promise! All you really need is a water bottle, a hair tie, some music to listen to, your new tracker, and, of course, an adorable gym outfit. Athletic clothing is so popular now, it can be bought anywhere. Stores are really upping their game on the style end of gym outfits, so you know you can still look like a Fashionista while sweating it out.
