Get in the action by sharing your favorite treats, sweets and even meats using the hashtag #CFeats.

The CollegeFashionista team has a serious weakness for two things—delicious sweets and beautiful things. So it is no surprise that we (along with everyone else on Instagram) are obsessed with Treat House. These delicious crispy rice treats are anything but ordinary—with flavors such as s’mores, caramel sea salt and even bubblegum. What started off as a fun bake sale item has transformed into a delicious and thriving business for Chris and Jennifer Russell.

CollegeFashionista: What inspired you to start Treat House?

Chris and Jennifer Russell: A bake sale we had with our children inspired us to start Treat House. We sold out of our treats in just a couple of hours and raised over $300 for kids in Africa to buy athletic equipment.

CF: What was your “ah ha” moment that made you realize you could take this from a hobby to a full-fledged and successful business?

JR: Our ah ha moment was when Chris and I walked down West 86th Street and simultaneously looked at each other and said “Remember that bake sale we had a few weeks ago… Nobody sells mini gourmet crispy rice treats in assorted flavors with delicious toppings in the country. And everybody loves crispy rice treats! This could be a great business!

CF: What do you think makes your product standout?

CR+JR: Our product stands out because no other place does mini crispy rice treats in unique, fun and delicious flavors that are Kosher and mostly gluten free. We also do custom logos on top and can put photos on top of the treats!

CF: What has been your biggest challenge thus far?

CR+JR: Our biggest challenge has been finding very small spaces in NYC to open stores.
