8 Female Hosted Podcasts You Should Be Listening To

One of my favorite ways to become inspired is  by listening to other people’s stories. I feel like there’s no better way to learn and grow than by real life experiences so I love hearing different realizations people have had throughout their lives and applying them to my own experience.

Needless to say, I have heard quite a few podcasts to quench my thirst for new sources of inspiration and knowledge. 

Today, I am sharing my favorite podcasts that promote empowerment and self-growth for goal-driven women. So if you are looking to hear some amazing stories by women pioneering innovation in creative industries, check out these eight podcasts below:

1 – Black Girl Om. Hosted by  Lauren Ash and Deun Ivory, Black Girl Om is the podcast you listen to when you are looking to cleanse your soul. Offering insight into wellness, self-care, and self-love for women of color, listening to a few minutes of this duo’s conversation will uplift your spirit in no time. It doesn’t hurt that Black Girl Om often has a range of special guests, from fashion bloggers and authors to spiritual specialists and even their best friends.

2 – Stuff Your Mom Never Told You. Christen Conger and Caroline Ervin breakdown common social and political biases with a fresh modern interpretation in Stuff Your Mom Never Told You. What I love about this podcast is that it explores issues women face from all angles and perspectives including historical and current context. Basically, Stuff Your Mom Never Told You, is like sitting down with your best girls talking candidly about today’s social climate and how ridiculous it can be sometimes.

3 – She Does. She Does is a podcast that showcases women from all different disciplines that are pioneering diversity in media. Co-hosts, Elaine Sheldon and Sarah Ginsberg, interview women in fields like film, music, tech and journalist to see how their life experiences influenced their current art. She Does is an amazing podcast to inspire you to expand your horizons and see what women are doing in other media platforms.

4 – Nerdette. Tricia Bobeda and Greta Johnsen unleash your  inner nerd with their podcast Nerdette. Tricia and Greta interview our favorite creators from digital media, literature and music while discussing everyday issues like growing up, finding yourself and finding your purpose. Nerdette has featured a number of people including Dr. Eugenia Cheng on the beauty of math and Lizzo, a flutist, singer, and rapper.

5 – The Great Girlfriends Show. If you are looking for some motivation on how to live an inspired life or business advice, this is the podcast for you. Sybil Amuti and Brandice Daniel, co-hosts of  The Great Girlfriends Show, chat about a range of topics that women face everyday. From dealing with how to get out of your own way to advice on love, Sybil and Brandice are like hanging with your best gal pals at home.

8 – Office Hours With CollegeFashionista. If I could make one wish, it would be to have my own office hours as fun and inspiring as this podcast. CollegeFashionista founder, Amy Levin, sits down with fashion and beauty insiders to pick their brains about their journey into the industry, the things that they have learned and advice they might have for someone trying to pave their own career path. I love this podcast because it’s current and relatable for a 20-something unsure of how to jump in and go after their dreams.
