BEAUTY BAR: Meet The Bob

August 6th, 2015 at 2:00am

For some time now, there has been a movement of ladies ditching their long locks for a more sophisticated style—introducing: the bob. Less hair equals less sweating so this haircut is absolutely perfect to try out for the summer. Also, this popular style is beyond easy to maintain and is effortlessly chic, making it a win-win! It’s no wonder why stylish A-listers such as Taylor Swift, Scarlett Johansson, Emma Stone, Kylie Jenner and even Queen Bey have taken the plunge.

As simple as the hairstyle sounds, there are actually quite a few variations that make a huge difference in it’s appearance. There’s the blunt bob, the bob with bangs, the asymmetrical bob, the soft blended bob and the textured bob. This Fashionista happens to be sporting the “lob” (long bob). This specific hairstyle is perfect for those of you who are a little nervous to do the full chop and it actually makes a great starting point to get more comfortable with shorter hair. Most lobs can even be put up in a pony tail so you’ll have the best of both worlds!

As a fellow lady working the lob cut, one thing that I’ve noticed with having shorter hair is that you instantly feel more put together no matter what you’re wearing. It’s a style all in itself! This Fashionista proved that to be true as she still managed to look undeniably snazzy while wearing simple shorts and a plain T-shirt. She used black as the main color of her outfit and added in some subtle color from her burgundy distressed denim shorts. She accessorized with a plain black purse and a pair of cutout ankle boots that added some edge to her simple but polished ensemble.

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR? To create this look, I would suggest making an appointment with a trustworthy hairdresser (although if you are feeling courageous and think you can chop your hair yourself, I applaud your efforts). Besides the perk of getting a professional cut, it would also be beneficial to head over to the salon so a stylist can help you decide what kind of bob would work best with the structure of your face. To get a lob like this Fashionista’s, you should ask the hairdresser for a bob that “clears the shoulders with textured layers for volume.”
