BEAUTY BAR: Go Natural

From a young age, I was constantly told I was gifted with beautiful hair. My hair would become highlighted with blonde streaks in the summers, grew in thick and was perfectly straight. Except, I really did not like my hair as I envied girls that had any sort of special curl, twist or wave to their hair texture. Then I learned something even more interesting, the girls with textured hair spent hours trying to get their hair to look like mine! It’s like the old saying goes, “The grass is always greener on the other side.” Well, I am here to tell you that summertime hair is all about the natural look, whether you are born with it or not.

This Fashionista first caught my attention with her big hair—it is difficult to miss. She has really unique looking curls and a lot of hair to go with them! I can only imagine how long it would take to tame that mane, which is probably why this Fashionista wears her hair naturally during this time of year. The site of this Fashionista got me to thinking, everyone should wear his or her hair naturally in the summer. We should be embracing and accentuating whatever our natural hair is able to do, without the power of heat. So remember, whether your hair is short or long, thick or thin—your natural hair is beautiful and so are you.

What’s on the BEAUTY BAR? On a hot summer day the last thing anyone wants to be doing is using heat to style hair. Begin in the shower using a good hair mask as a conditioner then follow up with a BB cream to prevent sun damage and combat humidity. Then once your hair has fully air dried, apply a dry oil to enhance the sheen of the hair.
