ALL IN THE DETAILS: Whimsical Socks

Bring it on, summer! This weather is the perfect transition from spring to summer, where it’s not too hot but not too cold. There’s still time to accessorize your outfit with winter pieces that you won’t be able to wear when the city becomes a blazing heat wave and we all become popsicles. What I mean is, socks— quirky, patterned and fun.

I love wearing all-black everything almost 90 percent of the time, but what’s an all-black everything outfit when it’s not properly accessorized? This Fashionista absolutely nailed it. With a simple bodycon dress she added a sprinkle of hypnotic flair to her look—mid-ankle length striped socks and white adidas! What I really loved about her style is that she incorporated a sporty elegance to a classic “little black dress.” Nothing completes an outfit more than the perfect pair of footwear. What was even more fascinating about her look is that she kept a consistent color-story of black, gold and white and managed to keep the perfect balance of girly through her layered necklaces, rings, and triple-zip leather clutch. She’s comfortable yet on-trend, ready to halt the streets of New York City.

If you are all about your accessories and details, a bodycon dress is a staple piece that you should have in your closet. I know that I’ll be purchasing more colors this summer; they’re fun to wear with boots, sneakers and platforms.

How To: Have a little black dress in your closet? Or even simple black pants if you’re not a dress person? Roll up those pants, put on some quirky socks and a pair of your favorite statement shoes and add some jewelry to make things interesting. You can match your pants with an all-black crop top or feel free to add some color to your look. You can also wear knee-highs with your little black dress and your choice of closed-toe shoes. This look is so flexible, you can accomplish it with anything you have in your closet. All it takes is a few accessories and you are all set for a stylish summer day!
