ALL IN THE DETAILS: Warming Up Faux Real

January 25th, 2016 at 2:00am

Faux fur has come a long way and I could not be happier about it. While it may have started out in stuffed animals and pillow decorations, it has gradually made its way onto every runway, and finally (thankfully) into our closets. And since it’s beginning to feel like winter here on the east coast, there is nothing better than pairing your outfit with something cozy. We’ve seen it in all different styles and patterns, but living in Florida doesn’t always call for a big fur coat, so we must improvise with the next best thing: vests!

The faux trend made its mark in 2015, and it is showing no signs of slowing down in the new year. Everyone is trying to stay warm, while also trying to stay stylish. Whether it’s a fur-lined vest, or fur hat, it adds a little extra touch of extravagance to any outfit. The best part about it is that it’s chic and cruelty-free!

This Fashionista made the fur look her own by rocking a faux fur and suede vest that was a vintage find. She added it over her favorite Urban Outfitters flannel. Then she paired the rest of her outfit with a black skirt and black knee-high boots. The part of her outfit I love the most is not only the vest but also the way she added subtle gold accessories. The gold hoops, bracelet and the underlying Free People choker to complete the look. The choker is another trend that has made a comeback that we are hoping is here to stay! Our Fashionista has found the perfect pieces to put together to keep warm while staying trendy!

How To: It is super easy to duplicate this look! Just be sure to have a black skirt, black knee-high boots, and a go-to flannel. The focus of the outfit should be the finishing touches. Whether you choose to wear jeans, a skirt, a turtleneck, or a flannel, be sure to keep it simple before adding on the fur vest. Add a fun choker necklace to spice it up, and your outfit is just about complete. Faux is staying put fur now!
