ALL IN THE DETAILS: Take Me Out To The Ball Game

Welcome to San Francisco, home of the Giants, which is our first stop on this summer’s adventure.

Baseball is a big deal where I live. The Giants have won three World Series in the past six years, and they are still looking good—but not as good as the Fashionista I found this week. This Fashionista takes a casual, sporty look and hits it out of the ballpark.

In baseball, there are three bases, and at the end, you reach home plate. This Fashionista covers all of the bases with her outfit, mixing simple pieces and coming into home plate with her staple piece: high-waisted, striped pants. So, let’s wind up and break down this Fashionista’s outfit.

First base: With a sleek, leather backpack, this Fashionista is ready for a day out in the city, or even just a day at school. The leather finish of the bag gives the piece an edgy feel, while the actual backpack is functional and keeps the outfit casual.

Second base: Shoes. I am in love with this Fashionista’s shoes. The thick heel is trendy right now, being see on the runway, in magazines and in stores everywhere. But this Fashionista sticks with the sporty theme by choosing a lace up shoe in classic black.

Third base: Getting closer to home plate, the classic baseball hat really captures the theme of this Fashionista’s outfit. While it is a baseball hat, she chose a black suede texture to keep it simple but still edgy. (Plus, the blue streaks in her hair are to die for. Love it).

Home plate: Finally, we reach the MVP (most valuable piece). Everyone jokes and says baseball players have great butts because of their pants, but this Fashionista’s pants pull together her outfit and are clearly the staple of the look. The high waist and large tie accentuate her waist, while the vertical stripes elongate her legs. Staying with the monochromatic colors, the pants blend well but still stand out.

How To: Now, if you were actually going to the ballpark for a game, I would definitely recommend keeping the staple pants and just switching out the top for a T-shirt to represent your favorite team. Personally, I would keep the shoes as well, but if you want to be more comfortable, you could swap them out for some Converse or leather flats.
