ALL IN THE DETAILS: Paisley

An outdoor summer event can be tough to dress for. You want to look chic and put together, but there are only so many ways to accessorize when it is 90 plus degrees outside. An outfit that would typically benefit from an added jacket or heavy jewelry is simply not an option if one wishes to avoid heat stroke. So how can you dress for the heat in something more put together and exciting than a pair of jean shorts and a plain tank top?

This Fashionista demonstrates the perfect way to make the most out of a barely there outfit. Although she is wearing no more clothing than she would be in shorts and a tank top, her paisley romper draws in the eye and is far from plain. It allows for the perfect pop of color and inclusion of pattern while still managing to keep her arms and legs bare in the summer sun. The bottom of the romper has a white ruffle, adding detail to her look and acting as an accessory. To complete the outfit, this Fashionista skips the bulky necklace and instead opts for a few lightweight bracelets that draw on the blue and white in her romper. Instead of lugging around a heavy and large bag, she selects a small satchel. This allows her to save her energy for fun in the sun rather than wasting it on carrying a huge purse around.

How To: If you are looking to stay cool and fashionable at the same time, choose a light romper or dress in a pattern that features at least one vibrant color.  Avoid solids and neutrals, since there wont be much room to dress up the outfit with elaborate accessories. Add small pieces of jewelry in a similar color to your outfit for an extra pop. Finally, finish off your look with a small bag, like a cross-body, that you can drape over your shoulder and not have to worry about carrying.
