ALL IN THE DETAILS: More Is…More?

Who says less is more? This week’s Fashionista has just the right idea when it comes to incorporating accessories into a day-casual ensemble; she sticks to a black and denim base look and incorporates a number of metallic pieces to spice things up. For the bulk of her outfit, she’s decked in a simple black-gray thermal long-sleeve, layering a sporty lululemon striped jacket on top and some easy blue jeans on the bottom. She seals the deal with a chic pair of tall, quilted boots.

Now for the glitz and glam: she sports a classic pair of white pearl Van Cleef & Arpels earrings, which create an awesome contrast against her all-black get-up. Next, her neck is encircled by a gorgeous bejeweled key necklace, which was handcrafted and gifted to our Fashionista by her super-talented aunt over at Sky Jewels. As far as arm candy goes, this Fashionista is wearing a white and silver studded Swatch watch on her left wrist and a tangerine Hermès bangle and Lokai bracelet on her right. It’s important to recognize that while she’s donning a number of pieces, they’re evenly distributed across the outfit so as to create a balance that doesn’t overwhelm the look.

Something else to love about this particular Fashionista’s look is that it is the perfect compromise between high fashion and simple, everyday wear. She is able to get away with wearing her chic earrings and glamorous bangle for this daytime look simply because she knows to add in more casual pieces, like her delicate key necklace and zen Lokai bracelet. Both of these pieces hit close to home—her key necklace rests close to her heart both literally and figuratively, and her Lokai bracelet, containing water from Mount Everest and mud from the Dead Sea, keeps her humble and balanced.

How To: It’s easy to emulate this Fashionista’s look—just throw on your go-to jeans and favorite casual monochromatic top. Jazz it up by liberally layering jewels of any occasion up your wrists and around your neck, adding more or less depending on the look you want to achieve.
