ALL IN THE DETAILS: Lettuce Turnip The Beet

A day of exploring one of my favorite cities led me to a local farmers market in Monterey, California. The streets overflowed with endless amounts of flowers, produce and jewelry. As I was perusing from vendor to vendor, I turned around and spotted this Fashionista picking out some rad produce.

She strutted through the market looking comfortable and causal. A basic tank top, boyfriend jeans and a cozy sweater is all she needed to put together an effortlessly stylish look. What caught my eye was her cool cream sweater—a key piece for layering with nearly any outfit. The chunky knit detailing added just the right amount of texture and paired perfectly with her crochet purse, leather sandals and tortoise shell sunnies.

Although summer is right around the corner, it’s important not to forget about those extra layers we may need for a potential chilly day or night. I love transitional pieces like sweaters and cardigans because they are easy to match with almost any ensemble. So you don’t overload your closet, keep a few favorites on rotation to go over lighter layers like dresses or tank tops.

How To: When looking to recreate this Fashionista’s style, find a favorite T-shirt or tank top, grab a pair of comfy, casual jeans and throw on a lightweight sweater or cardigan. Your love for layering doesn’t have to stop there. Accessorize with some round sunglasses, a cross-body bag and sandals to create a look you’ll want to rock all summer long.
