All in the Details: Kimono It Up

When you think of the word kimono, I’ll bet you think of a Japanese outfit. A traditional, silk and most likely red ensemble that you would probably wear to drink oodles of green tea with. Right?

Wrong. Kimonos in the 21st century are not only totally in right now, they also offer a truck load of functionality. This Fashionista was on her way out to dinner, on a lovely but chilly summer night in Toronto. Instead of ditching the summer wear altogether, she decided to throw on a Mayan-style design kimono to keep things in season and in check. Underneath this beauty, she has on a classic black T-shirt that goes with everything under the summer sun. Along with jet black leggings (that we all have in duplicates, since those bad boys tend to get swallowed up in the wash), her outfit is complete with an amazing array of gold and silver accessories. The understated jeweled necklace adds the perfect amount of pop to her whole look. With such a loud kimono on, this Fashionista made the wise choice of keeping her accessories simple. Go ahead and pile on the rings, but nothing too gaudy that would clash with the best part of the outfit, capice? Do I have to tell you what the best part of the outfit is? I didn’t think so.

With a killer kimono, simplistic accessories and a chic pair of sunglasses, this Fashionista is well on her way on being one of the best dressed beauties in the city. This look not only is one to gawk over, anyone would stay warm and toasty while sipping on your after dinner cappuccino.

How To: Remember, the brighter the kimono, the better. Don’t be afraid to let your outfit do the talking. Pair your outgoing kimono with neutral tops and bottoms, and when people compliment you left to right, you can thank us later.
