ALL IN THE DETAILS: Get Your Pleat On!

Inspired by Stella McCartney’s resort 2015 collection, this weekend I searched high and low for fabulous pleated looks, and what better place to look for a laid back and eclectic style then in Brooklyn, New York? Over the past weekend, I was lucky enough to visit the Smorgasburg Flea Market, aka a Fashionista’s playground. Between the awesome food and lifestyle vendors, tons of vintage clothing finds and the breathtaking views of the Manhattan skyline, what else can a girl ask for?

When researching Stella McCartney’s collection, I was drawn in by the fun atmosphere she created, all around. From the celeb guests to the live band, she had a welcoming setting that matched every bit of her vivid collection. She wanted people to feel happy and upbeat when wearing her clothes, hence why her collection included many diverse pieces. She left no room for Type A’s and went out with a bang!

Although insets of sunray pleats weren’t one of the features of the collection, the soft cut of the fabric was pieced together so tastefully, it was no less than eye-catching. As seen on this Fashionista, she lets her pleated dress take center stage keeping accessories to a minimum with a thin silver bangle, a white perforated cross-body bag, and classic cat-eye shape tortoise sunglasses. The dress itself is in a light beige color with contrasting red mini polka-dots. The Fashionista has also chosen to spice up the look with a black slip, to help amplify the contrast between the fabric of the dress and the print itself. The slip also creates a more sexual appeal that gives the look a more defined shape and complements the innocence of the print. To finish off her look she is sporting black strappy wedges, comfortable enough to walk around the event in.

How To: Interested in switching up your pleated look? Swap out a dress for a maxi skirt, pair it with some wedges and a cropped button down top for a vintage feel.
