ALL IN THE DETAILS: Eclectic Babe

When I sat down to write this article, I wanted to find a quote that described how I view fashion and accessorizing. Designer Diane von Furstenberg put my feelings perfectly into words: “Style is something that each of us already has, all we need to do is find it.” The unique thing about fashion is that there are many different ways to accessorize an outfit that represents your personal style and reflects what you feel good and confident in. It is the way that you accessorize an outfit that stands you apart from the crowd. It is the little details that can go a long way in making a fashionable statement.

I like accessories that allow me to get a glimpse of who a person is. Like fashion and like beauty, accessories provide insight on what a person likes and who a person is. For example, delicate pieces can show that a person has a feminine and girly personal style and bold pieces can show that a person has an edgier personal style. This Fashionista was rocking all kinds of accessories that created a fun and eclectic look. She proved that you cannot go wrong with a little bit of everything!

The first thing I noticed was her flannel. I am beyond obsessed with flannels because the pieces themselves are casual but can pull an outfit together seamlessly. This Fashionista proved that it is easy to rock any flannel and look great doing it. Because the weather is warmer, she opted to have her flannel worn around her waist. This adds a pop of color balancing her neutral tank and distressed shorts. I am a true believer that clothing can act as accessories and this is a perfect example of that. Keep in mind, if you are going to wear a flannel in the summer, find one that is made out of lightweight material.

The second thing I noticed was all of her fun jewelry. She mixed metals along with beaded, charm and rope bracelets. This does not take away from her outfit since the outfit itself is casual and neutral. She also sported an ankle bracelet, rings and funky earrings. I love jewelry that does not exactly match but looks good stacked next to each other because it takes an outfit from dull to inspiring in seconds. This Fashionista pulled this cool outfit together with a cross body bag that holds everything she needs when she is out conquering the day.

No summer outfit is complete without a great pair of shades and sandals. Her shades are just as funky and fun as the rest of her outfit. The pattern along the sunglasses add dimension to her outfit and frame her face beautifully. I loved that she chose a sandal that was metallic because it gives the outfit a pop of shine without being distracting.

How To: Want to copy this cool and eclectic look? Stick to a neutral colored top and jean shorts so that you can add the colorful flannel around your waist without it being busy. Go for accessories that are different from one another in material but similar in size so that when you stack them on your wrist, it looks natural versus overwhelming. Lastly, find a way to sneak a pop of metallic in your outfit whether it is in your jewelry, bag or shoes.
