This summer, Fashionistas are becoming crafty (and eco friendly!) by upcycling old and thrifted clothing. With a little extra time to spare before school begins again, Fashionistas are able to organize their closets and turn old, unworn clothes into brand new pieces! DIY pieces including denim shorts, crop tops and overalls are simple items that anyone can use that probably already hanging in their wardrobes.

This Fashionista utilizes worn and vintage pieces to recreate a totally on-trend outfit. She turns ordinary summer staples into an effortless and stylish look with only one tool: scissors! She adds detail to her O’Neil T-shirt by cutting the arm and bottom seams, creating a cropped and rolled up sleeve effect. Her high-waisted shorts were made with vintage Calvin Klein jeans and she snipped the pants for these frayed cutoffs that are a must-have this summer. She accessorizes this simple look with even more vintage inspired pieces like her white low-top sneakers, personalized bracelets and a black Italian leather mini backpack seamlessly pull the DIY outfit together.

How To: This Fashionista shows us that DIY does not take much and can be done in just a few steps. First, go through your closet and grab plain or graphic T-shirts that are no longer being worn.
