ALL IN THE DETAILS: Animal Print Clutches

It seems animal print has been a part of the fashion industry for a long time. This trend finds a way to come back very often with new innovative perspectives. So, where did it all begin? It actually dates back to the eighteenth century in Asia and Africa. Wearing animal print fabrics were considered a symbol of power and wealth back then. Fast forward to 1947 and we find Christian Dior being the first designer to introduce a leopard print dress. This was the first step towards the development of this long-lasting trend. Also in 1968, designer Rudi Gernreich, along with Peggy Moffit, were major contributors to this trend. Gernreich emphasized his love for the trend by having a whole collection focus only on animal print dresses with matching accessories. Thanks to them, women could find these prints in dresses and accessories in all the major fashion stores. Later, many influential fashion designers adopted animal print into their collections. Some of them include Dolce&Gabbana, Roberto Cavalli and Alexander McQueen.

Nowadays, animal print is still a very relevant trend, but changes have happened and now it tends to be a little more discrete. Many Fashionistas choose to use animal print to enhance their look by using it on accessories or small parts of the outfit. This Fashionista is a perfect example of this. She is wearing a pair of dark skinny jeans with a double layer ruffle top, nude and black pumps, Ray-Ban aviator sunglasses and small jewelry. To complement all of this, she decided to wear a snake print clutch. This item certainly completes the look and gives it a modern and edgy pop. It was my favourite part of the outfit because it has the ability to make a casual outfit seem a little more formal.

With this outfit, this Fashionista looks ready for a night out with her friends or for daytime activities like brunch.

How To: To get a look similar to hers, all you have to do is get an animal print accessory, a solid color top and your favourite pair of jeans. If you are not the clutch type of person, you could always use a tote instead.
