STYLE GURU STYLE: Vest Interest

In every Fashionista/o’s best interest, I will tell you that it has become pretty much crucial that you invest in a vest this summer. I don’t know about you, but personally in the cooler months, I am always rocking some sort of jacket over top of my ensemble. A jacket is a perfect and easy way to break up any look and, of course, who doesn’t love layering? So with that, the summer equivalent to your jacket must be a fabulous vest.

I am constantly drawing inspiration from Theory’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection. Each outfit is paired with a beautiful, lengthly overcoat or vest which ultimately completes each ensemble. I find myself recreating looks from Theory’s runway show, with its mesmerizing neutral combinations and oversized pieces.

I wanted to mix the two elements of a trendy vest and oversized components to really demonstrate the classic looks created by Theory. Of course, your standard vest comes in various different colors, styles and lengths. My personal advice is to keep your first vest purchase relatively simple and neutral. This way you are able to pair your vest with several different outfits and styles. My black and white vest is of double-cloth crepe material, which makes it somewhat more formal. Once I dress it down with a pair of khaki distressed boyfriend shorts, the outfit is fit for a day of errands or even a casual lunch date. To remain on the neutral train, I wore a simple blank cami underneath to make the white vest stand out and be the main focus of the entire look.

By playing around with this trend and having it transform several different styles, I am getting excited to get my hands on a few more vests to get the most out of this charming trend.

Get My Look: 1. A neutral-colored vest. 2. Khaki boyfriend shorts. 3. A simple cami.
