STYLE GURU STYLE: All-Black (And White) Everything

Fashion is constantly changing. If it wasn’t, we would see much more neon leg warmers and scrunchies on a daily basis. Some style elements, however, are timeless. The dynamic duo of black and white is classic in my book. Whether it is separately or combined, these colors done correctly just seem classy and elegant to me. Some may think black and white is not eccentric enough for their taste, but even those with the most colorful of styles may find it hard to resist being inspired by this ultra chic Public School spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection. This collection won my style appreciation by bringing black and white together in a way that can be versatile enough to wear every season.

Honestly, who doesn’t get excited when they buy a new outfit? I go to the dollar store and get pumped about my new high socks, so you can only imagine my enthusiasm when I get a whole new outfit. I just got this white, pleated maxi skirt from Love Culture a few days ago and have had to stop myself from settling on wearing it to Publix just so I had an excuse to wear it. Finally, after these long three days, came a family brunch.

Following this collection’s lead, I chose to stick strictly to black and white. I paired this skirt with a sheer black top to make sure that it was not too heavy for this summertime heat. I especially love this top because it gives me an excuse to wear a bandeau. So to all my bra hating Fashionistas out there, you’re welcome. Rather than opting for my everyday hairstyle of not brushing my hair and hoping no one calls me out on it, I pulled back my hair to the side in an easy bun to give the outfit a cleaner daytime look.

This collection began by mainly focusing on black and white, but later on it incorporated slight pops of color. Being the lipstick-obsessed girl that I am, I took this as a chance to add a pop of color by wearing one of my favorite lipsticks. Not so fun fact, there aren’t many colors, other than black and white, that go well with a bright orange lipstick. To finish it up, I slid on some simple black sandals and left the house without a purse. But if you feel like being a more responsible person than I, use your purse as another pop of color. If I had grabbed one, I would have probably grabbed a bright red bag to go with my lipstick. And those, my lovely Fashionistas/os, are my easy tips to pretending to be a runway model for a day.

Get My Look: 1. A black or white maxi skirt. 2. Bright lipstick. 3. Simple sandals.
