WHAT TO WEAR: Spring

Hallelujah! Spring has finally arrived. Thousands of Fashionistas are saying goodbye to their winter coats and saying hello to their spring dresses. When walking around campus, I see students modeling so many different trends. Some girls are rocking strapless dresses with floral or animal print, and others choose a more conservative ensemble that cover their back and shoulders. There are even Fashionistas who embrace the “middle of the road.” Their dresses have two inch straps or a conservative neckline that covers their chest but not their shoulders.

This Fashionista—who was a little shy at first—embraced the most conservative model. This navy blue dress is made out of soft cotton that covers her back and shoulders. It’s perfect for attending class where you want to look professional but not dressed up to the point where it looks like you’re going on an interview. The details of this outfit help maintain this balance. For example, the buttons down the front are offset by the creative zig zags zipping across her shoulders. Also, the fit and flare style of this dress keeps things businesslike up top but casual on the bottom. This is my favorite type of dress. It conveniently disguises any pounds I have regrettably packed on over this long winter.

To complete this look, this Fashionista opted for a pair of tan flats that contrasts nicely with the color of the dress. Who says opposites can’t attract?

One Simple Change: Going on a date? Swap those flats for a pair of knee-high boots, and wear some black leggings so your legs don’t freeze when the temperature drops.
