STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Keeping it Simple

Lately the weather has been…how do I put it…not ideal. Freezing cold temperatures have forced people into wearing layers upon layers of sweatshirts and coats, and if you’re like me, sometimes you end up looking a tad homeless.

Although the weather had been cold, we did get one day of beautiful sunshine this week and it was on this day that I spotted this week’s Fashionista. She looks fantastic in this clean winter look.

What I like most about this outfit is that she looks dressed up and casual all at the same time. She achieves this by choosing very simple yet classic, basic pieces, such as the deep, navy blue cable knit sweater, lighter jeans to contrast the dark sweater, boot socks and riding boots. She appears both comfortable and confident on this sunny January day.

This look is very versatile, great for going to class or even an afternoon lunch date with your current crush. Also, if it starts to get chillier outside you could very easily add a coat and scarf to completely change the look. This is perfect if you don’t have time for a complete outfit change. This Fashionista’s boots are my favorite piece of the ensemble because they are such a great color. The light brown, almost tan color makes them easy to pair with almost anything. Also, I love that this Fashionista added boot socks! Boot socks are such a fun way to add detail and an accent color to your outfit. I have to admit I’m sort of a boot socks junkie, but honestly, can you really have too many pairs? I think no.

I believe being comfortable and confident are the most important things to keep in mind when choosing your attire for the day, wear things that make you feel happy and let you express yourself! So Invest in the basics! They come in handy and you will get some good use out of them. And also…buy boot socks! They’re just really cute.

STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: “I’ve definitely been on a tighter budget since starting college so whenever I go shopping I try to buy things that I can wear again and again. I think buying basic items are great because you can make so many different outfits with them!”
