STYLE GURU BIO: Barbara Letizia

Hello, fellow Fashionista/os! I have completed my first semester at the Fashion Institute of Technology for Fashion Design while also picking up many fashion tips in the past few months. Walking around Manhattan has also given me countless outfit inspirations that I would love to share with all of you!

I have always been interested in fashion (actually, the better word here would be “obsessed”) and keeping up with trends, but I also love a couple of pieces that are timeless and can be worn season after season. I try to pull different garments from my closet that are for daytime but can easily be dressed up for a night look. I find it fascinating how pieces that look so contrasting with each other can be matched to be a glamorous ensemble. I have recently been attracted to athleisure, but then again I choose not to commit to one “style” as per my eclectic taste. Street style can have a sophisticated flare such as joggers worn with a leather jacket and a beanie. Versatility is important for me because staple pieces are crucial for college students that are on-the-go. A simple outfit can be dressed up with the right statement jacket or shoe.

In this look I decided to incorporate athleisure with a chic touch. I paired a faux fur coat with a soft violet cold shoulder body suit, heeled hiking boots and black jeggings. This look was topped off by a mauve lip, a metallic clutch, and a rhinestone choker for some edge. The rugged booties balance out the softness of the color palette and add a sporty vibe while also making it easier to walk through the icy streets. The skinny black jeggings complement the oversized furry coat. I usually dress in muted tones of colors or in black and white with an accent color that stands out.

My favorite thing to look for while walking around campus is a new trend or article of clothing that is unique and something I have never seen before. I am very excited to be sharing my cool finds here with other Fashionista/os!
