STYLE GURU BIO: Jacquelyn Marino

Hello, everyone! This is my third semester back with CollegeFashionista and I couldn’t be more excited to be back! I’m a sophomore at Marist College and I’m majoring in fashion merchandising with a business concentration and absolutely love it. I couldn’t picture a better suited major for my personality and interests. I love the fast pace and that there is always something new to learn about the fashion industry. I think that’s half the reason it makes the fashion industry so intriguing to me.

Fashion is always something I have loved, from when I was little all the way up until now, I always loved planning my outfits for the week every Sunday night and all of the thought that I put behind each outfit. What really made me know I wanted to pursue fashion as a career was after my experience on Nordstrom’s BP Fashion Board. Once I saw all of the possible career opportunities just in their store and after talking to many people in many positions, I realized that I could really make my love for fashion into a career.

Besides the world of fashion, there are many other things that I enjoy doing. I’m from Oregon and was raised there my whole life, which has made me enjoy quite a few outdoor activities such as hiking, running, and biking. Outside of Oregon, I love to travel, shop (of course), cook, and spend time with my family and friends.

Just another reason as to why I love fashion so much is that I’ve gotten the opportunity to travel to a couple of different places in the world and I’ve just noticed how universal fashion is. It can be applied to everyone’s day to day lives and is something that people utilize all the time. I love the fact that I can be doing a couple of the things that I love the most while pursuing my career.

Lastly, in terms of my style, I would classify it as simple yet sophisticated. I love pairing simple pieces together and adding some type of accessory to make the outfit uniquely mine. As you can tell from the outfit pictured above, I went for basic sophisticated colors. The gray sweater instantly gains sophistication from the black leather jacket which all ties into the medium wash denim and black over the knee boots. The over the knee boots were the element of sophistication that I wanted to add to personalize the outfit more.

I can’t wait to share more of my style with you and the style of others around my campus. I’m very excited for this upcoming semester and can’t see what the semester and new year have to bring!
