STYLE GURU STYLE: Go With the Flow

Winter has officially wrapped its cold embrace around us, and if you are like me, you are most likely reminiscing about warmth. Preferably somewhere tropical. Possibly even dreaming about hot sandy beaches, while cabana boys may, or may not be, fanning you with palm fronds. But, reality sets in. It’s still cold, and with that, we must compromise. So, my answer to our little problem, is to simply go with the flow!

As we welcome the new year, we say goodbye to good memories and make way for new beginnings. As I like to say, “new year, new me.” While we anticipate the new, every once in a while we welcome the return of old trends and styles.

Nothing makes me happier than an over-sized sweater. Sweaters are super functional, cute, and not to mention—warm! Sweaters that are neutral colored are my absolute favorite because they can be worn with literally anything. An oversize sweater can be paired with a skirt and tights, or just the classic sweater with jeans combo.

Who doesn’t love jeans? Jeans are my go to. The best feeling is finding a pair of jeans that fit just right. As skinny jeans continue to remain number one in popularity, I can’t help but think there are so many other styles of jeans that I feel people do not take advantage of. For instance, flared jeans. Once popular in the 1970s, the flare jean has now taken on a modern twist and can add a classic style to your wardrobe.

In the look that I have put together, I have paired a neutral gray over-sized sweater with flared jeans. Both staple items create a sense of flow and movement. This movement balances each other out and in turn works perfectly together. Adding a white scarf, your favorite handbag, and wearing tan booties under the jeans, not only creates a modern look, but an outfit that inspires envy.
