STYLE GURU STYLE: Sparkle in the New Year

One of my favorite things in the world is glitter and everything that falls under that category—sparkle, shimmer, etc. This is why I fell in love with this jumpsuit the instant that I saw it. I was dress shopping for my sorority semi-formal and tried to fight the urge to try it on, but I just couldn’t resist. Although I didn’t have an occasion to wear it, I left the store with it anyway.

Fast forward to New Year’s Eve. I didn’t know what the plan for the day was yet, but I just knew that this jumpsuit had to be a part of the day. No other outfit in my closet screams new year like this one does. Also, I don’t know about you, but I instantly think of something sparkly when planning my New Year’s outfit.

Most of the day consisted of running errands in preparation to ring in 2017. I may have been a little overdressed for normal errands, but as the quote says, “There is no such thing as being overdressed, everyone else is simply underdressed.” Because I was going to be running around buying things here and there, I decided to dress it down a little by adding my go-to shoes—white Converse.  They never fail to let me down.  Since I live in New York, I decided to add this long taupe cardigan because I would freeze with the sleeveless top. Although it is on the colder side here, I figured I could get away with the cardigan because I wasn’t going to be spending much time outside. I paired the outfit with loose curls, red lips, and a small crossbody bag. I love wearing jumpsuits because it looks like you put a lot of effort into an outfit when in reality it’s really simple!

I spent the rest of New Year’s Eve at home, but at least I looked stylish while grocery shopping! Happy New Year to everyone and I hope 2017 is your best year yet!
