STYLE GURU STYLE: ’90s Baby

Flannels, chokers, grudge, denim—these are some words that come to mind when thinking about ’90’s fashion trends. For this month’s post, I’m paying homage to the decade that made me.

Gosha Rubchinskiy’s fall 2016 menswear show screams “’90s style” with its slouchy denim pants and over-sized leather jackets, which were influenced by that decade’s punk rockers. While Rubchinskiy’s show is exclusively menswear, Fashionistas and Fashionistos are both feeling very nostaglic for ’90s style, with stores like Forever21 dedicating collections entirely to it. I would have to say that this Fashionista is a fan.

This outfit aims to mix ’90s style with contemporary pieces. The main component of this outfit is the chambray baby doll dress that is reminiscent of denim overalls, which have also been making a comeback lately. The back features a series of white buttons and a cutout. Back cutouts are a fun alternative if you want to show a little skin.

I pair the dress with a three-strand bracelet that features a flower choker. This accessory adds a whimsical element to the outfit, and is also a fun alternative to the typical black choker that everyone rocked back in the day. I also accessorize with with the Alex and Ani bracelets that I wear every day. Lastly, I pair the dress with brown sandals, even though I often opt for a red for a pop of color.

Get My Look: 1. Chambray dress. 2. Choker. 3. Charm Bracelets.
