WHAT TO WEAR: Concert

Just walk into any store right now and chances are you will spot one (or maybe even two or three) kimonos on the rack. Inspired by traditional Japanese robes, the kimono has been given a modern update of patterns, fringe and varying lengths and they will give any outfit a cool, boho vibe (just in time for music festival season)!

Kimonos can be worn with almost anything in your closet, from skinny jeans and flats or if you are in the mood to be daring, layered over a mini dress for that ultra ’70s look. I personally believe that the kimono is the perfect complementary staple to any festival goers’ wardrobe. When one thinks about music festival style, a few things automatically come to mind: denim shorts, flower headbands, fedoras… the list goes on! However, if you want to bend the rules of “festival fashion,” perhaps the kimono is the perfect opportunity to do so, as it is a fresher option, as well as unexpected.

This Fashionista is definitely ready to kick off musical festival season, sporting a brightly-colored and fun-patterned kimono. She masterfully paired the kimono with a simple camisole, which complements the main piece nicely and does not take away from it. This is one of the reasons why I love this piece so much: even if you are wearing an otherwise basic outfit with a tank top and jeans, the kimono certainly adds a sense of personality and uniqueness. To complete the look, this Fashionista has added a cool, wide-brim hat, her hair worn down loose, framing her face. Don’t forget your ankle boots!

One Simple Change: Want a great alternative way to wear a kimono? Try it as a swimsuit cover-up for those lazy, summer days laying out by the pool!
