STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Denim Days

It comes in a variety of washes, ceases to go out of style and if you wear it on top and bottom its called a Canadian tuxedo, a throwback to Britney and Justin at the AMA’s circa 2001, we’re talking about denim. Denim is a great staple piece that almost everyone owns, whether it be in the form of jeans, jackets or button-ups.

Denim resurfaces, once again, as a trend such as seen in Claudia Li’s New York Fashion Week fall 2016 collection featured a variety of decked out denim looks that still maintained comfortable, yet edgy silhouettes. However, Li is not the only one that draws inspiration from denim, this Fashionista uses her denim jacket to not only stay warm in the windy winter weather that New York is experiencing this February, but to also complement her wild-patterned top. On the bottom, this Fashionista keeps it pretty tame and neutral, wearing black tights and a black dress paired with dark-toned chunky boots. On top, she creates a nice contrast by adding a bright pop of color with her bright blue washed denim jacket and colorful printed top. The wash of her jacket pairs perfectly with the color palette of her busy hand patterned top so that it elevates the look without clashing or hiding any of the pieces.

This Fashionista let the outfit do all the talking and kept her accessories to a minimum. She added a silver watch to stick with her cool-toned color palette and a simple painty necklace. In addition, she added a tan backpack. The backpack, once on, pairs well with the black and blues of her outfit as seen from the rear view, but doesn’t take away any attention when this Fashionista’s look is being admired from the front view.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “In the winter, layering is a must, and a denim jacket is the perfect thing to reach for to add a pop of color to any outfit, without having to sacrificing comfort!”
