5 Fashion Essentials for Summer

Things are heating up outside, which means it’s time for a closet refresh. Summer is the perfect time to experiment with the hottest trends, so now is the time to stock up on the must-have pieces.

For this summer, I’m obsessed with combining feminine, grunge, and retro pieces in my outfits. At the same time, I’m not trying to break the bank, so I look for pieces that will work with lots of outfits. Check out these five basic items that can be worn together, or mixed and matched all summer long.

Square Neckline BodysuitsIf you love looking fashionable without a lot of effort, bodysuits are for you. Recently, square neckline bodysuits have taken off, and I am definitely a fan. It’s a super simple piece but will give your look a girly touch. Keep it casual with a pair of jean shorts, or dress it up with a skirt!

Dainty ChokersChokers have been trendy for awhile and don’t seem to be leaving anytime soon. TBH, I’m not mad about it because now there are so many different styles of chokers out there! I’ve been into wearing simple necklaces that I can wear alone for a minimalistic look, or that I can layer up for more detail and texture. Dainty chokers will give your outfit that finishing touch without overpowering the rest of your look!

Boyfriend ShortsSay goodbye to daisy dukes and hello to boyfriend shorts! As much as I love a classic pair of short shorts, I also like being able to wear an outfit without feeling like I need to tug at it all day. Boyfriend shorts have a longer inseam and a more relaxed, loose fit that makes you feel confident and comfortable! Pair them with a band T-shirt and sneakers while running errands, or with a crop top and sandals for dinner with your gals!

Block Heel SandalsSandals are always a must-have item in the summer. My favorite style for this summer has been sandals with a short, thick heel. Not only are block heel sandals adorable, they’re also practical. The thick heel is super easy to walk in, and can be worn with casual or dressy outfits!

Colored Lens SunglassesSwap out your basic sunglasses for a pair with colored lenses for a retro look! I’ve seen these sunglasses all over Instagram and had to get a pair for myself. Try out tinted, transparent lenses to add a ’70s vibe to your outfit, or a bold colored mirror lens for a stylish accent.
