What’s Actually “Worth the Splurge,” According to Fashionable Millennials

No matter how much we all want a never-ending bank account that would allow us to splurge on anything and everything, sometimes we’ve just got to be honest with ourselves. Living on a college budget means that splurging is a “once in a blue moon” type of experience and can only be done when absolutely necessary. So the real question remains: what is necessary? And better yet, what makes a product worth splurging on?

Unfortunately, there’s no telltale answer and everyone’s different. So while one person might find the need to splurge on a luxurious handbag, another vows only to spend money on a great pair of denim. (I personally spend the bulk of my money on vintage denim, coats, and shoes, but that’s just me.)

For everyone else out there wondering when to splurge and when to play it safe, sit back and relax as your fellow Style Gurus do the work for you.

“I prefer to splurge on face makeup products, skincare products, good quality running shoes, and unique pieces that will surely stand out in a crowd. Whether that be clothes, shoes, or accessories, if it really speaks to me, I will save up for it or splurge on the spot.” – Shannon Oteris (Photo via @oteris).

“I like to shop at places like ASOS and Zara when I want to test out a trend before investing in it, but I definitely invest in good quality jeans (especially Paige Denim because they’re amazing)!” – Halle Olsen (Photo via @queenhalpal).

“I always think it’s appropriate to splurge on items that I know I’ll get a lot of wear out of, which usually means shoes and classic basics. I’d rather spend $200 on a great pair of black skinny jeans by a quality brand over spending $20 for a pair that I could wear a few times before they start fading and getting damaged.” – Sofina Bassett (Photo via @sofinaa).

“I splurge on shoes and purses! Clothes come and go because styles change, but if you invest in good quality purses and shoes, they can last forever.” – Isabel Gutierrez (Photo via @_isabel_gutierrez_).

“I splurge on shoes and jackets! I think that these need to last and be comfortable, so I don’t mind putting on the extra cash.” – Tiffany Kwong (Photo via @misstiffkwong).
