As we head into this colder season, everyone is wearing their favorite chunky knits and boots and reminiscing on the days of shorts and summer dresses. However, this Fashionista challenges the idea that shorts are only worn in the summer. When I saw this Fashionista walking on the Quad, I had to stop and compliment her. I love how she takes her favorite summer shorts and pairs them with black knit tights to make her look more appropriate for the season. Who says shorts can only be worn in the summer?
The key to successfully transitioning your favorite pair of shorts into the winter months is to combine them with more seasonally appropriate attire. Like this Fashionista, you can layer your shorts over a pair of tights to fight the colder weather. I’m a fan of these fleece-lined tights from Urban Outfitters as they will be sure to keep your legs warm! She also adds a sweater and printed scarf to keep warm during class. I love how this Fashionista mixed her polka-dot shorts with a printed scarf. Don’t know what to wear when winter is not behaving as it’s supposed to? Scarves are an easy way to dress up any outfit and a great layering tip when you’re facing unpredictable weather. As a top to wear with the shorts, I would add a simple T-shirt with a Peter Pan collar. As for her shoes, this Fashionista chooses a pair of classic oxfords that are not only stylish, but practical for a day of classes.
Of course I was immediately drawn to this Fashionista’s effortlessly chic way to dress for classes and made a mental note that shorts aren’t just for the summer.
One Simple Change: To make the look a little more edgy, add some studded combat boots. Adding combat boots to this outfit would be perfect to transition this outfit to the weekend and to wear out with friends.
