WHAT TO WEAR: Class

With Halloween officially over, autumn is in full swing—and it shows. The weather over here in the tri-state area has taken a turn for the chilly, which means it is time to pull out that fall wardrobe. Autumn is the perfect opportunity to for showcasing personal style, yet so many students settle for sweatpants and a sweatshirt as soon as their shorts and T-shirt dresses stop cutting it. I mean… I do not blame them. It is cold out and I am just as lazy as anyone else! But never fear, looking put-together is not as hard as it may seem. It is just like one of those calculus problems that you have to derive to get the original equation. It is all about going back to the basics.

This Fashionista is dressed in fall basics head-to-toe, which creates an effortlessly put-together ensemble. Every element is casual and comfortable enough for a long day of classes, and provides warmth to combat a cold front. The black tank top and dark wash skinnies are staples in anyone’s closet. Some may be tempted to opt for a pair of black leggings—every student’s holy grail—but, as this Fashionista said, “[I] needed to look like a functional human being and ditch the leggings for some real pants for once.” Choosing jeans makes a world of difference. Now the jeans may look expertly cuffed, but I think every petite girl knows the secret to this statement. I know I do! Cuffing the ends of a pair of jeans adds just a little extra, or in this case takes away a little extra and makes the fit a hundred times better. With such a classic base, the outfit can go in so many different directions. This Fashionista chose an olive green cardigan to embrace an autumnal color palette, while staying warm and cozy in class. A cardigan will definitely give off a studious vibe, perfect for any college campus.

As for accessories, it all depends on what you are comfortable with. This Fashionista kept it simple with a black velvet choker that adds a trendy touch and some classic lace-up flats. Both are easy enough to throw on before class, while still looking like you spent an hour staring a magazine in order to come up with this look. A simple belt, that might just be used for practical reasons, ties the top and bottom together seamlessly. Last but not least is the watch. “[It’s] probably my favorite accessory,” says this Fashionista, “ because I wear it literally every day and it helps me feel put together, even though I am still always late.” See that was not so hard was it? Remember that when you look good you feel good. So why not look good in class?
