STYLE GURU STYLE: Winter Pastels

It is hard to believe that at one time pastels were reserved strictly for the springtime. Now, they are owning the runway and becoming more and more prevalent in street style trends. Tommy Hilfiger’s fall 2016 ready-to-wear collection skillfully incorporates  blush pinks, cool mints and lilacs to tone down the grungier, more masculine military pieces in his collection. Paired with dark shades and soft whites, the pastel blouses and skirts highlighted in the collection steal the show, and bring the looks from drab to fab.

One look in particular features a powdery blue button-down with a black, gold embroidered, belted military skirt. The look is completed with gold boots, white lace choker and blush pink bag with a crisp white strap. It’s edgy yet feminine. The result is a modern take on a classic military style.

It is a refreshing change from the usual dark hues worn in the wintertime. Pastel pieces are a modern twist on the tiresome winter wardrobe. For my look, I decided I was tired of wearing black (a first for me!) This lilac sweater paired with wintery white jeans is the perfect antidote to those winter blues. Crystal earrings and a diamond bracelet add a bit of sparkle, and play up the feminine essence of the outfit while the boots and large shades keep it casual and fun.

Whether it’s a lavender coat, a candy colored skirt or perhaps a pair of blush pumps, pastels are here to stay and ready to make your outfit this winter!
