STYLE GURU STYLE: Winter Nostalgia

Winter has not yet arrived but I already find myself browsing through all the fall/winter runway collections and all of a sudden I start to miss winter.  I mean summer is great: you can indulge yourself in ice cream, put on your pretty summer dresses and walk along the beach and enjoy the breeze if you are fortunate enough to live near a beach. However, I believe the most of us live in the city when we have to deal with the heat and walk back and forth from school and home. Ugh, I miss winter! I miss the high-knee leather boots and the dark figures walking on the misty streets.

My winter nostalgia was made worse when I saw Donna Karen’s fall/winter 2015 collection. The color black dominates the show and white works as accent. I love a particular look which shows the model wearing an oversized shirt and a high-waisted black skirt that accentuates the model’s waist and elongates her figure. She appeared strong and powerful but very feminine at the same time.

So I decided to reinvent a summer version for this look. To add casualness to the outfit, I chose a black and white graphic tank top to make the overlook more street casual. Then I paired the tank top with a high-waisted bodycon skirt. The high-waisted skirt elongates the lower half of my body and also creates an illusion of narrower waist. As the skirt is below-the-knee, it covers most of my already short leg. To lengthen the figure again, I added a pair of wedge heels that definitely give a sense of street style to the look.

Get My Look: 1. Achromatic graphic T-shirt. 2. Black high-waisted skirt. 3. Wedge heels 4. Stiletto sandal.
