STYLE GURU STYLE: The Kimono Kraze

I love kimonos for the summer. They are a great piece to have in your closet. Throw it on with a plain tee and some jeans and you will be looking super stylish. I was recently inspired by Lindsey Thornburg’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear show. The collection included a lot of light flowy fabric, floral print and of course, kimonos. What is better for summer than that? The clothes had an effortless, cool, laid back look to them. You know, the one that says, “I just threw this on” but in reality you stood in front of your closet for 30 minutes.

Thornburg’s kimonos looked more like traditional kimonos and were belted. The kimono I am wearing is more casual and light weight than the ones in her collection. The base of this outfit begins with some black high-waisted Levi shorts and a black racerback crop top. What makes the outfit is the long, black and blue kimono I added. The kimono is a great piece to my closet because the fabric is light and flowing and it gives off a boho vibe, which is perfect for summer. I layered two gold necklaces and added a gold cut out cuff. My Jeffrey Campbell Litas finish off my outfit while giving me some extra height.

I love that this outfit is effortless but doesn’t look so. I can choose to wear this with heels or flats. It is a perfect outfit for Coachella or any summer music festival. This outfit is trendy yet comfortable, perfect for the summer days ahead of us.

Get My Look: 1. Long kimono. 2. Black high-waisted shorts. 3. Jeffrey Campbell Litas.
