STYLE GURU STYLE: The Girl With The Burgundy Hat

Hi there, Fashionista/os! I am so sad to see summer slowly draw to an end. However, I am also looking forward to the beginning of autumn, the harvest season, and I am so excited for what it has in store. Fall is for thick sweaters, knee-high boots, a warm cup of coffee or tea and, of course, plaid and more plaid. Before I begin discussing the collection I have chosen, I want mention the meaning of the burgundy hat I am wearing. Every time I wear this hat, it always turns out to be a good day. I purchased it at a thrift shop in Queens and knew instantly I had to get it. I feels as if the hat resembles the quirkiness of my style. I wore it when my English teacher told me to write about my fashion style sense for my personal statement. I also wore it on my last day of high school, when I was trying to pull off a Molly Ringwald-inspired outfit.

When I saw the ace & jig’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection, I knew instantly the hat would fit right in with the look of the collection. I loved the way the designers, Cary Vaughan and Jenna Wilson, demonstrated a great way to casually sport layers and patterns. The prints for the collection are inspired by Bauhaus fashion. These new looks for the fall season includes dark shades of grungy stripes, cotton gauze in reversible plaids, printed jumpsuits, pants and dresses. For my look, I decided to wear a little black dress with brown Chelsea boots and my favorite burgundy hat, a fall must-have. We still have time to say a sweet goodbye to summer and to prepare for autumn. Are you ready for the fall?

Get My Look: 1. Little black dress. 2. Brown Chelsea boots. 3. Burgundy hat.
